Combine grain sieve replacement

The grain sieves cleaning system in a combine harvester typically consists of two sieves working in tandem: the chaffer (upper sieve) which receives material from the threshing drum and separates larger straw from grain, and the cleaning sieve (lower sieve) which further refines the grain by allowing only clean kernels to pass through while chaff and small debris are blown away by the fan.

Grain sieves are manufactured from high-strength, wear-resistant materials including high-carbon steel, stainless steel, and engineered plastics. Modern sieves feature adjustable openings, allowing operators to fine-tune settings for specific crops and field conditions. Louvered sieves use angled slats to create air jets that float chaff upward while heavy grain falls through. Perforated sieves feature round holes in fixed sizes (e.g., 3mm, 10mm) for applications requiring consistent opening dimensions. Finger sieves (long or short finger designs) provide aggressive cleaning action for high-volume crops like corn and soybeans.

Premium aftermarket sieves often include nylon anti-wear bushes that drastically reduce friction and extend service life, with wires and louvres that can be individually replaced rather than requiring full sieve replacement.
